Requirements

  • Minimum education: Grade 10 (ABET Level 2).
  • Relevant security work experience.
  • A driver’s license is an advantage.
  • Completion of a basic security course, registered with PSIRA.
  • Good knowledge of access control, public premises regulations, security legislation, and emergency procedures.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Batho Pele Principles and client service.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to manage security systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Security Officer role is hands-on and vital to the operations of the High Court. Main duties include:

  • Managing access control at the building and ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter.
  • Monitoring the movement of documents, equipment, and stores to prevent unauthorized removal.
  • Operating control room security systems and equipment.
  • Recording all incidents accurately in occurrence books or registers.
  • Supporting emergency responses and ensuring the safety of all within the premises.
